Christina is available for school visits, book clubs and presentations to groups.  She loves to meet fellow writers and readers, of all ages. Here are a few of the programs she offers:

 

What’s the Big Idea? (Grade 3-adult)

In this interactive presentation, Christina speaks to writers and readers about where ideas come from, how to use them, when to lose them, and how to turn them into fantastic stories. Using examples from her writing life and the lives of other writers, the secret to finding unique and creative ideas is finally revealed!

 

Let’s Get This Story in Shape! (Grades 3-12)
Once you have an idea, how is it turned into a story? In this informative & entertaining program, Christina explains the ins and outs of developing plot and voice, character and setting.  Students are given writing exercises that help take their own ideas and develop the basic outline of a full-blown story.

 

Becoming a Writer: From Dreaming to Doing (Grades 6-adult)

This presentation, customized depending on grade and age of the audiences, explores the essentials needed to make your own way in the publishing business. Topics like discipline, dealing with rejection, listening to your instincts and never giving up form the backbone of this inspiring discussion.

 

Finding Your Poet’s Voice (Grades 3-adult)

Another interactive presentation in which Christina shares her passion for poetry. Taught with the help of creative exercises that will release your inner bard, this is fun & memorable program for all who participate.

Honorarium - $400 for a half-day (two presentations) plus expenses for presentations outside of Houston; $800 for a full day (four presentations); single presentations are $200 each.
